The restaurant's pork curry noodles have a relatively soft texture, with a hint of spiciness and sweetness, and the overall flavor is average. The fried spring rolls have a crispy outer layer, and the filling is particularly well-seasoned, making them more popular.
The restaurant has a simple atmosphere that attracts customers who come because of the Michelin recommendation. Although it may not stand out, it has its own unique charm.
The boss is enthusiastic but has poor English skills, and relies on local customers to assist with ordering. The service is friendly, but there are some challenges in communication.
I specifically searched online for some local snacks and restaurants that locals recommend, either from IG or Xiaohongshu. This place might be attracting attention because of its Michelin status, as some people on Xiaohongshu have recommended it. So I was also drawn to this seemingly unremarkable little restaurant!
The owner inside was very friendly, but actually, their English wasn't very good. After we entered, a local customer told us that we could just take the menu in and order. Otherwise, we might not even have noticed where the menu was! In the end, we ordered our dishes using photos. We ordered…
❤️ Pork 🐷 Curry Noodles
I think it might just be a matter of habit; people here are used to cooking their noodles very soft, so I wasn't quite used to it. I felt the noodles didn't have much chewiness, and if left too long, they'd get even softer. What's special is that they add a bit of fried noodles on top, so with each bite, you get two different textures! The curry flavor is relatively mild, with a bit of spiciness 🌶️ and a hint of sweetness, and the taste was fairly standard, without too many surprises!
❤️ Fried Spring Rolls
This dish was actually better than the noodles. The outer skin was crispy, and the filling had some vegetables, but the seasoning was quite special! I felt this dish was overall more enjoyable!
Overall, I wouldn't specifically go back to this little restaurant again. If I happened to pass by, I might just grab a spring roll, but I probably wouldn't even go back to that area!
When you come to Northern Thailand, you must try the traditional Northern Thai noodles.
Taibei noodles are mainly composed of two types of noodles (egg noodles at the bottom and golden noodles at the top)
Egg noodles: Actually, they are no different from ordinary noodles.
Golden Noodles: This one is very special, a bit like a fried and very hard donut (or someone can add to describe it)
Soup: Based on red curry, it is very fragrant and delicious.
But super spicy! You really need to be mentally prepared for this
I took the first sip and immediately bought another bottle of water to drink.
Conclusion: Although it is quite far away from the city of Chiang Mai, if you are nearby, it is really worth it.
