The curry rice has a moderately spicy and fragrant flavor, with crispy pork cutlet and firm meat. In addition to curry rice, the restaurant also offers curry ramen, which has delicious and chewy noodles.
The shop space is relatively small, with only 8-10 bar seats, which feels a bit crowded. The owner thoughtfully provides facilities for hanging coats and bags.
The queuing process requires you to place your order and pay at the in-store ordering machine first, and then line up outside. The service efficiency is high, and you only need to wait about 5 minutes to be seated.
【Foodholic Nako @ Osaka, Japan】
"Oretachi no Kareya" is a curry specialty shop located near Namba Station in Osaka. We originally planned to eat at a famous ramen shop, but on January 2nd, it happened to be during the Japanese New Year holiday, so the ramen shop was closed. We wandered around the area and passed by this curry shop, where we saw a couple of groups waiting in line outside and it smelled quite nice. After checking it out on Tabelog, we found it had a rating of 3.32, which is pretty decent in Japan, so we decided to go for it!
The queuing method requires you to first go inside to order and pay at a ticket machine, and then take your meal ticket outside to wait in line for the staff to call your number. At that time, there was only one group ahead of us, so we waited less than 5 minutes before being seated.
The space in the restaurant is quite small, probably only about 8-10 counter seats. To be honest, it was pretty cramped, and coming in the winter with thick clothes made it a bit troublesome, but the restaurant provided coat hangers for outerwear, and you could hang your bag on hooks under the table, which was nice.
Pork Cutlet Curry Rice ¥850
The curry is marked as medium spice level for basic heat. I usually can only handle mild spice, but it was indeed quite spicy. However, it didn’t feel painful; instead, it was delicious and refreshing! The pork cutlet was also fried to a very crispy texture, and the meat was quite firm. Besides dipping it in the curry sauce, you could also squeeze in a bit of spicy miso sauce, which was a nice complement!
When ordering, you could also choose to add a large amount of green onions or a soft-boiled egg. Although the pork cutlet curry rice was quite good on its own, it felt a bit empty; if I have the chance to visit again, I would want to add some toppings.
Additionally, this curry shop offers not only curry rice but also curry ramen options. I noticed that more customers seemed to order the curry ramen. The noodles are round and curvy, and they appeared very chewy and delicious. While eating, I couldn’t help but lament why I didn’t order a bowl of ramen to try!
