Actually, I probably wouldn't have gone into this claypot rice restaurant if I hadn't passed by it, but my dad found it quite curious, so we took a look! Unexpectedly, we ended up going in and ordering a serving of claypot rice 🍚.

The lighting inside the restaurant was very dim; even in Taiwan, I probably wouldn't walk in if it were like that. If you didn’t look closely, you might think it wasn’t open! Maybe it's because it's a weekday, and they're trying to save energy...

As for the food... I personally feel like when eating in mainland China, salt seems to be free. So far, no matter what restaurant I've eaten at, the flavors are very strong! This claypot rice might be the first dish I've had that was somewhat balanced in taste. However, paired with the braised dishes sold by the same place nearby, it was really too salty to eat plain! It was a complete waste—what could have been good ingredients were ruined; the only redeeming part was the crispy rice at the bottom of the claypot, which made it quite fragrant, and the overall flavor was still pretty decent! But I really don't recommend everyone buying the nearby braised dishes, otherwise, you’ll almost throw away half a bowl—it’s super unfortunate!

Overall, I probably won’t go back to Gubei Water Town, so it’s unlikely I will return to this restaurant. If anyone goes to play, it’s best to explore other places to see if there’s something tastier!
