This shop called "Wangguodang" located in Shinsaibashi, Osaka offers crunchy red bean mochi pastries that are both sweet and salty, paired with brown sugar soy sauce, making it a memorable treat at an affordable price.
【Foodholic Nako @ Osaka, Japan】
Let me get to the conclusion first: If you visit the Shinsaibashi and Dotonbori areas and love pastry pies, you absolutely must buy one to try!
"Bankado" is located near Shinsaibashi in Osaka and primarily sells souvenirs. That day, while we were shopping nearby, the aroma of baked pastry pies wafted through the air, irresistibly drawing us in. Even though we were about to have dinner soon, we couldn't resist buying one after seeing that golden-brown exterior.
Soy Sauce Red Bean Mochi Puff ¥300
All I can say is it’s super delicious!
I already love char siu puffs and cheese puffs, and their red bean mochi puff has an incredibly crispy crust that feels sinful to eat, plus it's quite large!
The combination of red bean and mochi is a perfect match, and it’s not overly sweet. The sauce seems to be a brown sugar soy sauce, providing a delightful mix of salty and sweet flavors that I think complement each other very well.
Overall, being able to buy such a delicious dessert at such a cheap price makes me want to come back many times. If it were located next to my house, I would probably go buy one every week!
