This Ginger Cafe is located near the shopping street of Gilroy, CA (outlet stores). We shopped until a little past lunchtime and found this Chinese restaurant online. It’s a bit of a walk from the shopping area to here. The restaurant is situated in a quiet corner.
Upon entering, we felt that the interior decoration was very elegant. The menu design is very sophisticated. The dim sum has pictures and quantities, making it easy to choose. We're glad to have dim sum that can only be found in tea houses, as we didn't want to eat too much. Our initial impression was quite good.
We ordered these dishes. Please refer to the photos.
(1) Green Bean Chicken Egg Fried Rice: Served for 2 people, this dish includes green beans, chicken, and egg fried rice. The taste was okay, but we still didn't finish it.
(2) Hot and Sour Soup: This was included. They gave us 2 bowls (one for each person), which was a pleasant surprise.
(3) Taro Shrimp Cakes: These were quite good.
(4) Chive Dumplings: The filling was not what we expected (which should have included chives, shredded eggs, and glass noodles). The chives were mashed, and there were no shredded eggs or glass noodles. This was the dish we were most looking forward to, so we were a bit disappointed. This restaurant is not a dim sum place, so we shouldn’t have expected too much.
In terms of flavor, the dishes at this restaurant are on the salty side, which we are not very used to.
