📍 Chai Wan, Hong Kong
Char Siu Excellence | Local Takeout Hotspot 🥡🇭🇰
Since coming back from Hong Kong, the thing I can’t stop thinking about is this roast meat rice 🤤
The location is at the far west of Hong Kong Island's MTR, surrounded by residential areas, snack shops, and markets. This shop is mainly frequented by locals for takeout; on the day we arrived, we were the only group of tourists there.
There are only two tables for dining in, and the floor is very oily 😆😆 so one needs to be careful to avoid slipping.
The experience of eating here definitely made the lengthy journey worthwhile, just for this lunch 🥰

Order items:
🐖 Three-meat combo - Char Siu, Roast Goose Leg, Roast Pork Belly ($180):
The staff was very friendly and directly suggested we order the three-meat combo with suckling pig, but we switched the suckling pig for roast pork belly since we really wanted to try it.
From the first bite, it was clear that the quality of the meats used here is excellent!
I particularly loved the roast pork belly; the layers of meat were very distinct, the crispy skin paired with the juicy meat was incredibly satisfying!
The char siu is indeed the signature dish here; its surface is glossy with a honey glaze, and it doesn't have an overly fatty texture, which is very pleasant.
The roast goose was also crispy and delicious 😋
🍚 Plain rice with soup ($12):
A generous serving in one bowl, just right for two people! The white rice, made from Thai rice, goes excelente with the roast meats, and the soup was on the thicker side.

Would I visit again: Yes!
