This place is Xinxiang Lu located at the Nanshijiao Night Market in Zhonghe. It specializes in herbal stews and has a seating area for dining in. The cleanliness of the establishment is quite good, and the staff are really friendly. After ordering, I waited about 15 minutes; although it wasn't particularly fast, the quality of the dishes served was stable.
The flavor of the stewed sauce is quite unique. It’s not the usual overly salty taste but rather has a mild sweetness combined with herbal notes. It’s not greasy and doesn’t leave you feeling thirsty. Overall, the seasoning is just right, and there's no need to add any extra sauces.
This time I ordered:
- Large soybean skin $25
- Radish $25
- Onion $25
- Pork skin $30
- Beef slices $50
- Duck blood $45
- Mushroom $25
- Cauliflower $30
- Baby bok choy $30
In total, I had 10 items for $285. The bowl of duck blood was well-marinated, with pickled vegetables on top to enhance the flavor, slightly spicy with a fragrant touch. The other bowl of dry stew had a lot of ingredients, including pork skin, onion, mushroom, cauliflower, and beef slices; it wasn’t too greasy, and the vegetables still had some crunch.
Overall, it’s a place that would make you want to visit again for herbal stews. Clean, honest, and tasty, it’s already flavorful enough without needing to add anything extra. I highly recommend dining in on the spot to enjoy the meal while it's still warm.
