This time, I visited 'Corn Barley', a restaurant where you can fully immerse yourself in the world of Studio Ghibli with perfect Ghibli-themed meals, located just a 2-minute walk from Kichijoji Station!
I think it's great to stop by either before or after visiting the Ghibli Museum. 'Corn Barley' has been around for some time, but it seems that with the renewal on March 22, 2022, everything in the restaurant and the menu has completely transformed into a Ghibli theme. You can enter with no reservation for the regular menu, but please be careful as the "Homage Course," the ultimate Ghibli meal course, requires a complete reservation in advance.
Menu I ordered this time:
【Homage Course】
Musashino Forest Salad
An homage to "My Neighbor Totoro."
This luxurious salad is made with plenty of Musashino vegetables. On the "corn," just like in the film, it says "to mother."
Beef Stew Loved by Sky Pirates
An homage to "Castle in the Sky."
A figurine of the robot soldier, a flying stone, and a key stone are all brought together! This is a recreation of the stew that Sheeta was making on the airship Tiger Moth of the sky pirate Dora's family. The beef stew was full of ingredients and tasted exquisite.
Magical Bacon and Egg
An homage to "Howl's Moving Castle."
I couldn't resist eating a large fried egg and juicy bacon on bread! The bread is from a popular bakery called "Toho Bakery," located near the Ghibli Museum, and it was slightly sweet and delicious.
Miner's Lunchbox Soup
An homage to "Castle in the Sky."
This is also a tomato-based soup filled with ingredients, and it was very tasty. It warmed me up nicely in the cold winter!
Chicken and Pumpkin Pie
An homage to "Kiki's Delivery Service."
The outside was a nicely baked flaky pie crust, and the inside was filled with tender chicken and fluffy pumpkin, making it very delicious. Crushing the pie crust and mixing it with the filling was the best!
Petit Decoration Chocolate
An homage to "My Neighbor Totoro."
Delicious chocolate balls and cold ice cream paired perfectly together. It’s such a cute No-Face that it feels almost too good to eat.
The interior is filled with Ghibli merchandise as far as the eye can see, so as a Studio Ghibli enthusiast, I was extremely excited; it felt like paradise. The space is spacious, with 54 seats available, but even so, it seems that it often gets fully booked with reservations.
If you love Ghibli, I genuinely believe you won’t regret going, so definitely check it out♪
Once again, Harapeko-chan is completely satisfied!
Thank you for the meal!
