Le Marmiton

In this very popular tourist area of Belgium, this restaurant seems quite ordinary, but in fact, it is very in demand. If you don’t make a reservation before coming, there is a high probability that you will have to wait a long time or even may not be able to get a seat at all! We made a reservation online before our visit, and shortly after we were seated, the surrounding tables were completely filled with people who had also made reservations—it's easy to imagine how sought after this restaurant really is!

Once inside and settled at our table, we definitely felt the enthusiastic service from the staff. After ordering, they were very happy to introduce us to the dishes we had chosen.

Here’s what we ordered today:
❤️ Oysters
Of course, you cannot skip oysters as an appetizer! This restaurant is famous for its seafood cuisine, so we decided to start with oysters. The natural sweetness of the oysters was already more than enough, and being super fresh, they tasted amazing even without the lemon or onion vinegar they provided. However, adding a bit of vinegar accentuates the flavors, creating a mix of sweet and sour sensations!

❤️ Snails
This dish was a bit different from what I had originally imagined. I thought they would serve us individual snails that we would have to extract ourselves, but instead, they incorporated the snails directly into the dish. Although the sauce looked a bit green, its mildly sour and salty taste was surprisingly well-suited to the snails, which were also very fresh and had no fishy smell at all. The overall texture was quite unique!

❤️ Mussels
This dish was the most impressive of the three we ordered, as we did not expect to get such a large portion. I thought that ordering this for two might be a bit too little, but we ended up filling ourselves up with mussels! They simply cooked them with cream, white wine, and spices, steaming the blue mussels. Because the seafood was incredibly fresh, even simple cooking made it exceptionally delicious!

Overall, I think the value for money is very high, and the quality of the dishes is absolutely commendable. It is a perfect place to spend an afternoon or evening enjoying a grand meal here, especially if you love seafood—make sure you don’t miss out!
