阿耀散食記 | Cheng Ji Canteen
Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3/5)

Overall Evaluation
While working nearby, I accidentally walked into this "Cheng Ji Canteen," which is an affordable eatery with quick service. The environment is clean and tidy, but because there is a Buddhist altar, the store has a noticeable incense smell that may not be acceptable to everyone.

Menu Items

  • Braised Pork Rice ($30)
The braising sauce has a moderate aroma and the seasoning is well-balanced. The side dishes include preserved mustard greens and tofu skin, but the portion is relatively small, suitable for those with a light appetite.
  • Japanese Pork Cutlet Rice ($50)
The meat slices are battered and fried, with very simple seasoning—just sprinkled with pepper salt. Unfortunately, it was fried a bit too much, resulting in a texture that scrapes the mouth and is rather tough, leading to a slightly disappointing overall experience.
  • Yangchun Noodles (Soup, Small, $30)
The broth has a fragrant meat sauce, complemented by bean sprouts and scallions, giving it an old-school flavor. It’s a good value, suitable for those wanting to have something warm to eat.
  • Blanched Vegetables ($25)
Seasoned with garlic soy sauce, it’s simple yet appetizing. The vegetables are cooked just right, allowing the natural sweetness to come through.

Summary from Ah Yao
In terms of price, this place shows sincerity. The braised pork rice and yangchun noodles are both value-for-money options that can quickly resolve a meal.
Suitable for: Quick dining, office workers nearby, those on a budget
Not suitable for: Those who are particular about fried food and seek varied flavors.
