This place is a noble family restaurant in Zhonghe, located next to Costco in Zhonghe, about a five-minute walk to the Zhonghe station on the circular line. It gets quite busy in the afternoon.
I came here once before, and my impression wasn't very good; I felt that the environment was not very clean and there wasn't much to remember about the food. Recently, a friend mentioned that they have renovated, and the buffet bar has become more abundant, so I decided to give it another try.
This time, it does seem that the buffet has more options, including spicy stinky tofu, four-god soup, chicken soup, tube rice cake, pig's blood cake, and creamy soup that you can serve yourself. There are also many fried food choices, salads, cold dishes, fruits, desserts, and ice cream; the variety is indeed large, but the flavors are just average. You can fill up, but I wouldn't say the food was particularly delicious.
For the main dishes, we ordered a special beef steak for $410, a sirloin steak for $460, and garlic chicken cutlet for $410. The quality of the beef was average, with a bit of tendon making it chewier. The udon and side dishes were the standard pairings, served with a lot of sauce that was a bit salty; it had some aroma but wasn't very palatable. Surprisingly, the chicken cutlet was decent, crispy and not too dry.
The service inside hasn't really improved; they charge a service fee but I didn't see anyone come to clear the plates from the table. By the end of the meal, our table was really cluttered, which was a bit annoying.
Currently, the buffet costs $370 plus 10%. Overall, it's just a place to fill you up; the food isn't hard to eat, but I wouldn't say I would want to come back specifically. If you're visiting Costco, you could stop by and grab a bite.
