SpeedRun by VG Taipei is located on the second floor of No. 79 Tong'an Street, next to the Tonghua Night Market. The first floor is a restaurant specializing in Japanese char siu rice. You need to press the button on the arcade machine at the stairs on the first floor to open the bar’s door.
Today, I enjoyed the Explosive Talisman worth 60 trillion, the four souls gemstone, the herbal Sangria, and the Alolan 100,000 volts, totaling 1320 NT dollars. It seems that the bar's drink menu is updated regularly, and this issue’s theme is clearly various anime.
Explosive Talisman (60 trillion):
The bartender places an explosive talisman on the glass, reminding customers to use the recording mode while filming, then completes the explosion within half a second, which is quite spectacular. The drink itself is also remarkable; the liquor is quickly smoked by the talisman, giving it a smoky flavor that pairs well with the citrus notes from the milky aroma and the gin in the recipe.
Four Souls Gemstone:
The blend of Baozhong tea and cherry blossom has a heavier sweetness, with the four souls gemstone being a sour plum candy in the middle. The almond bits on the side of the cup are to be enjoyed early; otherwise, after drinking to the bottom, you'll find the four souls gemstone stuck right in the center of the cup. 😂
Herbal Sangria:
A non-alcoholic cocktail, it's a standard combination of guava and green apple, sweet and tangy.
Alolan 100,000 Volts:
One of only two non-alcoholic drinks offered in the bar. The tail of the Pikachu made from glutinous rice paper floats on the bubbles and is edible, providing an interesting texture. The lactic acid bubbles taste like a milk cap, paired with the mango and citrus-flavored non-alcoholic body, making it very delicious.
Overall, this is a very unique bar. After spending a certain amount, you'll receive several tokens for the bar’s arcade machines, allowing you to freely choose which games to play. I played Vietnam War and Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and it felt like traveling back in time, which was a very interesting experience.
The ceiling is covered with various manga, which is quite spectacular. How many can you recognize?
I highly recommend it to everyone!
