Liao's Master Thai Shrimp is located in the Kaohsiung Liuhe Night Market, and it's a roadside seafood stall that serves freshly caught and grilled seafood.
Today, I enjoyed Thai shrimp, grilled oysters, and grilled wine snails, totaling 600 TWD.
Thai Shrimp:
The portion was medium-sized, and the grilling was well done, with a perfect grasp of the heat; the shrimp shells had a slightly charred aroma, and the shrimp meat was tender and bouncy, with plenty of roe in the shrimp heads. But regarding the size and quantity of the shrimp... I can only convince myself that Thai shrimp is indeed that expensive.
I didn’t pay attention to which tank these shrimp came from, but based on reviews, it seems that many people have had disputes with the stall owner about the selection of the shrimp. The owner seems to start picking the less vigorous shrimp from the tank, but this is something I found out later. At least at the moment, I just felt it was a bit pricey, but the taste was still decent.
Grilled Oysters:
The tower of oyster shells was impressively high; this was actually what drew me to the stall, and the raw oysters did not disappoint. The oyster meat was large and beautiful, and the freshness was good. Thinking about it, if we had only ordered this, we would have been quite satisfied, possibly giving it four stars; after all, ordering 36 pieces is still 600 TWD.
Grilled Wine Snails:
This was a clear misstep; the seasoning was quite heavy, and they were generous with the garlic, making it suitable for pairing with alcohol. However, it was obvious that many of them weren't very clean, so one had to rely on luck. I should have chosen larger conch or whelk; in fact, I ended up with a bit of diarrhea after eating.
Overall, it's a night market vendor with excellent grilling skills, but there's a subtle issue with the freshness and cleanliness of the ingredients.
The dining area follows the standard night market style, with plastic tables and chairs that blend with the roadside environment. The sanitary conditions are... more like the carefree状态 of a night market.
In terms of prices, they belong to the higher end for a roadside stall. After eating, it makes you reflect on whether you were too hungry or too high on excitement.
To make it convenient for customers while shopping, the stall provides plastic gloves for eating oysters and peeling shrimp. Considering this thoughtful touch, I’ll add an extra half star.
