I found this highly-rated set meal restaurant on the map, and reviews from Japanese people said there's often a line. I visited slightly off-peak and managed to snag the last two seats at the counter.

The rice, soy sauce, miso, and other basic ingredients used here are carefully chosen and naturally cultivated. The natural flavors serve as the best seasoning.

We ordered the mentaiko set and the grilled salmon set, each coming with miso soup, a pot of rice, a main dish, some pickles, and a pot of stock for making chazuke (rice with tea).

It feels really simple, but the rice they use is incredibly delicious, perfectly cooked and distinct. The shop seems to be a rice merchant as well, selling rice at the counter. I noticed that many tables next to us ordered rice balls. I could eat three bowls of this rice!

Some might find this a bit monotonous, lacking vegetables, but I personally prefer it! In these kinds of set meal restaurants, the vegetables are usually just a cabbage salad, which I'm not fond of.

After enjoying half a bowl of rice with mentaiko, I added some wasabi and condiments on the side, then poured in the stock for a big bowl of warm chazuke. It’s a simple, Japanese-style meal, and I can completely understand the popularity. I will definitely come back often!
