When we went to this restaurant, we were specifically there for the Korean-style soju, as a friend had been there before, so we went in without hesitation!
The staff inside were all Korean. Although there were no issues with their English, their service felt a bit different; they seemed to be working as if they were in their own home, very casual and genuine, which is actually quite cute!
As for the menu, they have the common Korean dishes you'd expect, but the main focus is really on the soju. There are many varieties of soju, including the usual ones we see, as well as soju made with various different flavors. The homemade soju, in particular, has a uniquely special taste!
We ordered:
❤️ Yakult Soju
Actually, I had never seen Yakult-flavored soju in supermarkets before, but it gradually appeared, and it does taste quite good. So we decided to try it at the restaurant today. Although I thought the flavor was pretty nice, it was a bit too sweet. Even people who don’t usually drink should be able to handle it, as the Yakult mostly diluted the soju's taste, leaving a sweet Yakult flavor in the mouth!
❤️ Ice Snow Soju
We noticed that quite a few people were ordering this type of soju, so we thought we would order a small portion to try. However, I personally didn’t like it. It tasted very much like drinking pure alcohol, and it was a bit harsh on the throat! It wasn’t very pleasant and lacked the signature flavor of soju!
To pair with the drinks, we ordered some classic Korean dishes:
❤️ Cheese Tteokbokki
I thought this was just ordinary tteokbokki, but it turned out to be extremely delicious. The rice cakes themselves were neither too soft nor too hard, but very chewy and Q-like. The seasoning was done perfectly with just the right amount of spiciness 🌶️ and a hint of sweetness. When served, the cheese 🧀 on top was browned with a torch, making each bite of rice cake have a bit of stretchy cheese. It was really tasty! This was the first time I tasted tteokbokki that had a hint of sweetness that paired so well – I recommend everyone who drinks should try this out!
Overall, everyone who comes to this restaurant is there for the special soju. You can see everyone at the tables has drinks, and since they stay open a bit later, it’s a great choice if you want to gather with friends for dinner and drinks!
