From my time serving as a firefighter in Tainan, there’s a breakfast shop that I would definitely go to every time I finished an overnight shift. This shop is near Wufei Street and Jiankang Road, right in the heart of Tainan's breakfast scene. However, since it's not too close to the main road, there are very few tourists; most of the customers are locals, making it a very comfortable place to eat.
The reason I can give it five stars is simple: there’s no need to stand in long lines, and you don’t have to spend a lot of money to enjoy hot, delicious, fresh breakfast. Especially at the breakfast shop I mentioned, many items are signature dishes like mashed potato pancakes or potato cakes with eggs. The mashed potatoes and potato pancakes here are both incredibly tasty and completely satisfy my requirement of having egg pancakes in a Western-style breakfast.
The potato cakes have a crispy texture and aren't too dry; the moist, slightly crispy pancake skin combined with ketchup is simply excellent. Additionally, the radish cakes I ordered, which contain shrimp and fried shallots and are complemented by a slightly sweet soy sauce, are a classic breakfast duo that I highly recommend everyone to try.
The only downside is that the dining space is actually on the porch, so those who care about that should think twice. However, this doesn’t affect my rating of five stars!
