I heard that a popular spicy noodle shop from Nagoya has opened in Kyoto, so I went to check it out! 🍜
The place is called "Karamen-ya Shachirin Kyoto Imadegawa," and it's located a short walk from Imadegawa Station on the Kyoto City Subway. 🚃
It's situated in a residential area near Doshisha University, and there's a big tapestry, so it's easy to find. 🍜
Ordering is done via a ticket machine. 🎫
The interior was fitting for a spicy noodle shop, all in bright red. 🔥
There are only counter seats, and they also have condiments for adjusting flavor, like kelp vinegar and pepper. 🔥
Not being great with spiciness, I ordered the Umakara Red Mazesoba with spiciness level 0. 🍜
I added cheese 🧀, chashu pork 🐷, and ordered with a little garlic. 🧄
You can also request extra rice after your meal. 🍚
They kindly provided instructions on how to eat the mazesoba. 🍜
The mazesoba that arrived was quite hearty:
thick noodles 🍜,
an egg yolk 🥚,
pork meat miso,
chashu pork 🐷,
cheese 🧀,
bean sprouts,
green onions,
garlic chives,
garlic 🧄,
and spicy powder. 🔥
It was very filling!
I broke the egg yolk and mixed everything together to eat it.
The umakara sauce coated the thick noodles perfectly and was incredibly delicious! ✨
The spiciness level 0 was just right for me. 🔥
The pork meat miso was flavorful, and the chashu was thick and satisfying. 🐷
The cheese added a nice creaminess, and the kelp vinegar was refreshing and tasty. ✨
I mixed everything well with the extra rice and enjoyed it thoroughly until the last bite. 🍚
There’s also a special version of the extra rice that caught my interest. 🍚✨
This shop is highly recommended for anyone who loves spicy noodles, and even for someone like me who isn’t great with spice, everything was delicious! 🔥
