[Taipei Da'an] 99% Korean BBQ
I stumbled upon a Korean BBQ place that is somewhat similar to Jiubaihao, but with an even better cost-performance ratio! The store is also more spacious.
All set meals are for two people, and there's no need to meet a minimum spend of $250 per person. I highly recommend the grilled pork belly platter for $450 (comes with grilled vegetables). You can choose four flavors from seven options; my favorites that day were the soy sauce and sake-kasu flavors.
The self-service bar has 10 types of toppings and one kind of romaine lettuce. Rice and seaweed are also available for unlimited refills, and I absolutely love their rice + seaweed. Eating two large bowls is no problem for me! The seaweed tastes sweet and salty, which pairs well with the barbecue.
The meat isn't too salty, but the side dishes are quite flavorful, leaning towards salty and a bit spicy. The kimchi soup is a bit spicy as well, but I prefer the seaweed soup. The drinks include unsweetened tea, and surprisingly, there's also a coffee machine!
As for ice cream, I've heard regulars say that it used to be served in cups, which was very delicious, but due to noticeable waste, the shop switched to tubs for self-serving. There are 10 to 20 flavors available; I highly recommend mocha, cocoa, and cheese.
If you want to order alcohol, you'll need to purchase it separately (there's even whole bottles of red wine). Although this place isn't extraordinarily impressive in terms of taste, it's still worth a try considering the overall cost-performance ratio!
