Although I often pass by it in Ximending, I thought it was just an ordinary old coffee shop. After reading a magazine report, I realized that Fengda Coffee is famous for its breakfast service. "It is the favorite of many older gentlemen in our city."
The challenge of having breakfast at Fengda Coffee is that you have to go into town early in the morning. When I finished eating and left at 9:30, there was already a long queue outside, all just to try this breakfast. This was a weekday morning!
The restaurant retains a rather nostalgic style, with wooden tables and wooden chairs. The transparent glass jars at the entrance display a variety of Hong Kong-style pastries and freshly roasted coffee beans. It has been open for more than a month.
In the store, there were elderly residents nearby talking about ancient times, as well as foreign tourists. The meal is served very quickly. The hot coffee should be medium roasted, slightly acidic but not overly so. The flavor is balanced but the aroma is not outstanding. After all, it cannot be the same as other single-origin coffee in the store. Toast is also a common item, and you can pair it with jam or cream.
The strong point is undoubtedly the ham and egg. Look at the fried egg, which is moderately cooked, with a little bit of half-boiled egg liquid. Finally, the fried egg is rolled up with ham and eaten. The whole set is eaten in just two or three bites. It is delicious and must be recommended!
Perhaps we can say this: the toast and coffee in Fengda Coffee’s breakfast set are probably similar to those served in ordinary restaurants. Presumably the ham and eggs are the favorite among gourmets!
