🥖 Foodie P胖胖 🥖 🥄 Eating and drinking in Taichung 🥢
Thanks to Fooday for providing a platform that allows me to eat and earn at the same time!
🤣🤣
There are really so many options for snacks around Yongxing Street in the north district of Taichung in the afternoon. For those who don’t know what they want to eat, I recommend taking a stroll around here; you basically won’t be disappointed! There are tons of choices including noodles, light meals, desserts, fried foods, snacks, drinks, and more! Today, I rode my beloved Odomai bike to try out “Chi Chi Zha Guo” near Yongxing Street! It seems like a relatively new opening; the sign outside looks quite new, and the decor has a bit of an old-timey atmosphere, which feels quite refreshing!
Upon entering the store, I found that they actually have air conditioning on—this definitely deserves some extra points! 🤣🤣 After all, most places selling fried snacks usually have open dining areas, and having just fans is already pretty good; having an air-conditioned store is quite rare!
After ordering, the owner was very quick, and my fried snacks arrived in no time!
I’ve attached my comments below my dining photos!
I hope my simple sharing helps everyone better understand the shop; this is a food recommendation that I will revisit!

Food taste ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Below are my simple food reviews! Taste varies from person to person, and preferences are different! Friends passing by are welcome to try it out!

🔸️ Fried snack platter group photo Every ingredient is fried to a golden and crispy texture, making one's mouth water!
🔸️ Oysters Fritter $50 The outer layer is very thin and crispy, fried to a golden crisp! Taking a bite fills your mouth with chives and green onions, it's refreshing! It's a bit unfortunate that it's a bit oily, and the oysters inside are on the smaller side, making the vegetable filling the star! However, the overall taste is quite delicious!
🔸️ Fried Baby Corn $40 The batter is very thin and crispy, the surface is equally golden and crunchy, with no excess oil or flour. The salty and sweet flavor is very refreshing to eat! Highly recommended! 👍👍
🔸️ Sweet Rice Cake $30 The rice cake has a very soft and fluffy texture, and the sweet taste complemented by the sauce is deliciously savory. It's slightly oily but not greasy, and I personally think it's very tasty! 👍
🔸️ Fried Tofu $30 The golden and crispy outer layer is fried without any additional flour. The skin itself showcases a crispy texture. Inside, it is very tender and fresh, with each bite allowing the aroma of the tofu to dance in your mouth! This is delicious! 👍👍
🔸️ Sweet Potato $25 The thin and crispy batter wraps around the sweet potato; with one bite, the sweet flavor and the aroma of the sweet potato instantly fill the mouth! The sweet potato is very soft and fluffy. As you bite into it, the fragrance continually wafts out, fresh and delicious! 👍
🔸️ Radish Cake $25 The batter is golden and crispy, and the crunchy texture when you bite into it is very delicious. The radish cake has a soft and fluffy texture. Dipped in sauce, it tastes fresh and delicious! Fried snacks like this are common affordable eats and a local delicacy in Taiwan. Friends who have tried it recommend you come and give it a try!

Lian Kee Chicken Rice
ChineseSubang Jaya
The place is a stall located inside the MeiSek Kopitiam. It operates in the evening as the morning and afternoon is for the other stalls. Drinks have to be ordered from the drinks stall via self-service. Parking is awailable but would be hard to find on busy days. I was expecting things to taste better as there were a number of patients dining in. The steam chicken and rice was just ordinary. The beansprouts lacked taste and were not crunchy. However, the redeeming qualities of the place was their wantan and pork balls. The wantan was full of flavourful stuffing and the chillie oil in the soup gave a nice kick to it. The pork balls were very good as well, with a firm springy texture. Price is pretty standard subang prices. Overall, i wont come here unless I am craving chicken rice and am unwilling to go to better places. While i am here, the porkballs and wantan is a must have.

Big Big Wantan-Mee & Rice Damansara Jaya
ChinesePetaling Jaya
Known for its wan tan mee, hence the name, decided to visit the shop. It's been a few years since i have been here and wanted to have it again. Parking is difficult to find on the road, with alot of people double parking. Might be better to park in the atria mall, though please note the parking fees isnt cheap. Had to wait a few minutes, as the lunch crowd was happening. Service was ok. To order, just write your order code on a piece of paper and pass to the staff. Food came relatively quickly but unfortunately the quality was lacking. The portion was big but the quantity of char siew was small. The char siew had the premium look but was tough and no crispy caramel parts. The caramel parts were abit sweet and sticky instead. The noodles was decent and the sauce paired well with it. However, in the past there were pork lards placed along the noodles. The wantans, though packed with filling; just tasted normal. They only had 3 pieces only. The white coffee was terrible. It was very diluted with no flavour at all. The payment option of cash was very dissapointing, especially since almost every other place has atleast a qr paying option. I can imagine this point alone will put off alot of customers. Overall, i wont really come back unless i really really want to eat wan tan mee. Its just slighly above mediocre wan tan mee but definitely not living up to its name.

時時香RICE BAR 宜蘭新月店
ChineseYilan County
This is a chain restaurant that's present in a lot of malls, and generally popular. We were quite late for our lunch (2pm) but was happy to see that this place was still open. The food was very satisfying. The dishes came out all fairly quickly except for the meatball dish. At that point we were pretty much already ready to go at that point, so the only negative side to our experience. That meatball dish was also very good though. I found all of the flavors very familiar and comforting for Chinese food. The omelette with pickled radish especially was nice, the inside was soft and the radish had just the right amount of salt. Service was nice and attentive, though expected since we were the only ones present besides one other party.
