Located in the Donggang Huaqiao Market in Pingtung, "A Yuan Sashimi" is a stall that specializes in sashimi and attracts many food lovers. This time, we ordered a mixed sashimi platter, mainly consisting of salmon and tuna, priced at 500 NT dollars. The portion was relatively small, especially since many pieces of fish contained quite a bit of sinew, which affected the texture. Given this price, better value might be found at fish markets in non-touristy areas.
In addition to the mixed sashimi platter, we specifically ordered a piece of toro (tuna belly), priced at 200 NT dollars. The texture and aroma of this toro was noticeably superior to other cuts; it was tender and delicate, melting in the mouth. After tasting this piece, one could truly appreciate the unique flavor of tuna belly, although the price was indeed high, making it feel more like “good to try once” rather than a must-have.
Overall, "A Yuan Sashimi" offers fresh ingredients, especially the tuna belly, which is highly recommended. However, considering the price and portion size, the sashimi here may not be as cost-effective for diners seeking value for money, making it more suitable for tourists looking to indulge in gourmet food occasionally.
