"Liu Family Beef Hot Pot" is located in Yongkang, Tainan, and is one of the well-known choices for beef hot pot in the area. This time, I wanted to try their a la carte beef soup, especially since last time I went with a colleague and we ended up spending nearly 3000 NT dollars for just the two of us; I guess that was because we didn't pay attention to the pricing 😆 Normally, it shouldn't be this expensive. To be honest, the hot pot itself isn't bad, the meat quality is quite good, but the price is on the high side. So this time I opted to only order the beef soup. The broth has a rich beef aroma, but it's not particularly special for Tainan. Paired with a few slices of tender beef, it can be considered decent, but given the wide variety of beef soup options in Tainan, this place lacks the appeal that would make me want to come back specifically.
The ingredients and sauces at the restaurant, however, are a major highlight, especially the special dipping sauce, which has a rich garlic flavor and really enhances the beef slices. The stir-fried water spinach was done very well, cooked just right to be crunchy and refreshing, which complements the beef soup nicely. However, to be honest, the pricing of this place could make one hesitate; perhaps I ordered too much at the time, but even if you order less, the overall price isn't very friendly.
Overall, Liu Family Beef Hot Pot is suitable for occasional visits. If it's your first time coming, I recommend trying the beef soup and some stir-fried dishes to experience a bit of the beef flavor.
