Comments from a dental brace wearer: There is a restroom, but the water is very cold.
"Takamatso Honten" is located near Shijo Karasuma in Kyoto and was our first stop after arriving in Kyoto. We took the Haruka train straight to Kyoto right after landing, checked in, and immediately went out to find something to eat, which led us to this restaurant.
Inside the restaurant, there is a self-service ordering machine. After placing an order, you collect your ticket to give to the staff before taking your seat, and they will provide iced water. We ordered the following dishes:
The dipping sauce for the tsukemen is very rich and can be paired with various toppings to experience diverse flavors. The soba noodles have a good chewiness, and there is a generous amount of char siu pork in the dipping sauce. However, the broth is a bit salty and not hot enough. The ramen noodles are different from the tsukemen, with good elasticity, and the broth is similarly rich.
The "Kura no Khaori" that we ordered is a local beer from Kyoto, but it tasted ordinary and did not stand out. Personally, I still prefer the smooth taste of Orion beer.
Overall, the noodles at this restaurant are worth trying, so if you're in the area, you should stop by and taste them.
