I haven’t eaten at any pork chop restaurant other than Fusheng Pavilion in Taiwan for a long time because I think it's already quite good 😂. I happened to be nearby for dinner and didn’t know what to eat, so I chose this place. I arrived around 5 PM; there weren’t as many people as usual, but I still had a short wait before being seated.
▪️ Pork loin chop set meal (160g) $380
▪️ Signature special meal $470
(pork loin, shrimp, chawanmushi, dessert, drink)
· Basque cheesecake · Calpis
After being seated, they served tea first, and we ordered through a QR code. After placing the order, they started bringing out some shredded cabbage, complimentary small dishes (pickled radish, kimchi, burdock, all very tasty) and let us grind sesame seeds ourselves (the sesame smelled amazing~).
Both dishes used pork loin, which was very tender and had a crispy exterior. I preferred to pair it with yellow mustard rather than the pork sauce, which cut through the greasiness nicely. The shrimp was average. I must say their white rice was delicious; the rice, shredded cabbage, and even the soup were all refillable. The sesame dressing for the cabbage was excellent, and the soup was very flavorful, with the pork in the soup being tender and delicious too. The drinks were typical, but surprisingly, even the dessert, the Basque cheesecake, was genuinely good!! The only thing we weren't used to was the chawanmushi, which was so soft it felt like there was very little egg in it, and it seemed like they added a bit too much seasoning sauce.
Overall, I really liked this place!! It’s been a long time since I had tasty pork chops, and the staff occasionally checks on the tables to see if we need refills, which they bring promptly. I really liked that.
