The small shop in the alleys of Tsukiji Market used to have a great business a long time ago, frequented by restaurant workers coming to purchase supplies. It's a place only insiders knew about, with seating for less than ten people, where you could enjoy hot and freshly fried tempura as early as nine in the morning.
After a ten-year absence, my return seems to be greatly influenced by the relocation of Tsukiji Market. Originally, customers who would come to buy supplies would usually not visit anymore, and the atmosphere has changed significantly, feeling quite desolate. The tempura, which I was looking forward to, also tastes quite different now, with a stronger greasy flavor. The preparation in the seating area during operating hours doesn't feel quite right either. I don't know if it was just bad luck, but the flavors I cherished in my memories are somewhat disappointing. However, I still want to give it another try next time.
