In the department store restaurant, the prices are usually not very low. Additionally, since it is considered a star-rated restaurant, the price point is reasonable. On Tuesday evenings at six, you don't have to wait for a table.
They offer a couple's set menu, but the dishes I like are not included, so I didn't order the set. I ordered a la carte, which meant a bit fewer dishes (no drinks or desserts). The prices are similar and still acceptable.
This time we ordered:
Thai Basil Pork (normal, no customization) $320
Quite spicy but really delicious and goes well with rice. If you're afraid of spice, you can ask for less.
Lemon Fish (less spicy) $520
The reduced spiciness was just right. The broth is perfect for mixing with rice or for dipping with satay—it's also delicious! The lemon fish is a must-try in Thai cuisine. Here, they remove the fish bones. There’s a reason it’s expensive. 😍
Shrimp Paste Water Spinach $225
It’s pretty ordinary, but they don’t have cloud paste here, so the shrimp paste is not bad to eat. Personally, I’m not a big fan of the shrimp flavor.
Pork Satay $350
The portion was surprisingly large; I thought it would be a small serving. At first, when eating it alone, it's sweet, and it feels like eating a sweet snack. I'm not joking—it really is like that! It’s not shawarma mistaken for a sweet snack; it genuinely tastes like a sweet snack. 😂 But it's delicious. Due to being on a skewer, I couldn't dip the remaining pieces into the sauce, so it was easier to use a fork to pick them out to eat.
The rice had the perfect texture; Thai rice is really delicious. The sour tamarind juice was also refreshing and not too sour.
For the two of us, the total was around $1500 + 10% service charge, making it $1656 overall. We ate very well, and the quality was truly nice. 👍🏻
