This time I visited San Ye Steak on Anhe Road Section 2, and it was my second visit.
The restaurant is quite honest; if you only order the basic steak, the portion will be a bit thin and can easily become overcooked. So this time I ordered the 8oz sirloin, which was okay in terms of flavor and the doneness was easier to control. The accompanying sizzling noodles were quite nice. In contrast, the pork chop was relatively ordinary, especially since there are a few budget steak places nearby where some pork chops taste better, making it hard not to be compared unfavorably.
There are two soup options: the borscht was quite good, although it only had some beef bits in it, the broth was flavorful; the corn chowder was rather average, that typical thickened texture, not particularly recommended. The bread rolls were standard butter rolls, performing adequately.
Overall, San Ye Steak can be considered a small place to occasionally grab a bite if you live nearby, leaning more towards the “convenient and budget-friendly” route. If I had to choose, I would recommend the steak over the pork chop.
