I’ve always been curious about what Monjayaki and Okonomiyaki everyone calls them are like.
What I found this time is the most recommended and old shop in Taipei - Tsukishima Monja Yaki.
There are branches in the north, middle and south. There are currently two in Taipei. The distance between the two is only about 15 minutes' walk~

I can’t tell the difference between Monjayaki, Okonomiyaki, and Modern yaki. I even googled the differences between the three before eating. If I want to explain, I can write an essay. If you are interested, you can also search online🤣
Anyway, in the end I chose Monja Yaki, which can be eaten slowly and bite by bite with a spatula, and Hiroshima Modern Yaki, which has an extra layer of fried noodles than Okonomiyaki.

After ordering, the staff will help with the cooking table by table. Our order is to start with monja yaki and then start cooking modern yaki when we are almost done eating (it takes longer)
Dining here is not only about local delicacies but also visual enjoyment.
It was the first time for my friend and I to eat it. It was so fun.
I’m not saying how awesome or amazing the taste is, but it’s delicious and not expensive.
Two people were about 8 minutes full after eating two kinds of yaki.
Comparing the two, I still prefer Modern Yaki. It has more texture, and the fried noodles that are fried until slightly burnt are delicious!
The store staff also puts a variety of sauces on the side, so you can add them as you like.

If you want to order a drink, I highly recommend the brown rice milk tea! ! !
My friends and I had our eyes wide open after the first sip. It was really an Okonomiyaki restaurant that was delayed by Genmai milk tea. It was very smooth and delicious. It felt like half and half milk and tea. The portion was quite large. It has a refreshing flavor that I will miss.

It was raining that day and I felt that the interior was very warm. The atmosphere of the retro old store is also very intriguing. Although the store is not big, the seats are very spacious.
During the meal, I saw 2-3 tables where one person was dining alone, which made me feel very enjoyable and comfortable.
So if you are curious about what Okonomiyaki is, you can try it quickly🥳
