This store is super secret. If you don’t live nearby or like to hang out in the alleys, it will be difficult to find it. It is really the so-called "my alley"!
Located near Taipei Main Station and the Museum of Contemporary Art, hidden in a small alley next to Chang'an West Road and Huayin Street, I discovered this small shop while walking nearby and decided to have dinner here~
The proprietress is responsible for ordering, preparing meals, delivering meals, and checking out all by herself. When we arrive at 5:30 pm on weekdays, there is not a single customer in the store.
Although the store environment is very traditional in a Taiwanese noodle shop, it is very clean. There is no garbage on the table and floor, and it is not greasy or sticky.
In addition to the signature cut noodles (both soup and dry), there are also many braised side dishes and soups that you can order. There are actually as many as 15 kinds of braised dishes to choose from!
Dry cut noodles (small bowl) $60
The noodle is made of oil noodles, with some bean sprouts, leeks, fried onions, braised eggs and lean meat slices.
The sauce and fried shallots are mixed together. The seasoning is just right for me and it suits my taste. Adding a little bean paste will make it even more delicious! And the braised eggs are served whole, which is very sincere!
But those 2 lean meat slices... I don't know why they taste a little sour. I'm not sure if it's my taste or...? All in all, I like the dry noodles themselves, but the lean meat slices are a bit scary.
Dried tofu $30
The dried tofu is a big portion, which I think is a great deal! The marinated dried tofu is very tasty and is a bit heavy on the taste; the soy sauce paste is a bit salty, so I recommend just dipping it in moderation.
Overall, the price of the meal is very affordable. Even if you have noodles, soup, and side dishes, it will not exceed $150. The dry-cut noodles and braised noodles taste good too!
But if I visit again next time, I might ask the lady boss not to put the lean meat slices 😂
ps. A small drawback of this store is that they use paper bowls and disposable tableware for inside use, which is not environmentally friendly.
