Located in downtown Fiji, The Hot Bread Kitchen is one of the most iconic chain bakeries in the area. It serves not only as a quick stop for tourists but also as an essential part of the daily lives of Fijians. Whether in Suva, Nadi, or elsewhere, the shop's distinctive red and white sign can be seen. Every afternoon, the aroma of freshly baked bread wafts through the store, and there is often a crowd outside.
The shelves are lined with a variety of breads, from donuts and Danish pastries to meat pies and French baguettes. The air is filled with the scents of butter and yeast, making it hard to resist buying a few more items once you step inside. In the end, I chose a few popular items: a hot dog roll and a soft butter roll.
The prices at this shop are quite reasonable, making it an affordable culinary option considering Fiji's cost of living, with each bread costing just a few Fijian dollars. Although it may not be a fancy dessert shop, the simple aroma and local feel are flavors that must be experienced during the journey.
