Located next to the National Museum of Prehistoric Culture in Taitung, the WARiYAN restaurant at Hualian Shore is a unique dining spot that blends local flavors with modern design. This time, we came to taste their buffet, which features a spacious and clean environment, creating a very relaxed atmosphere.

The buffet selection isn't extravagant or overly diverse, but each dish is crafted with sincerity and freshness. The salads in the cold dishes area are refreshing, with clean and crunchy vegetables that pair well with either a Japanese-style dressing or Caesar dressing, making them very appetizing. In the main dish section, there are a few standout items: the braised chicken thighs are tender, and the sauce is savory and flavorful; the buttered mackerel has a subtle lemon aroma and a unique spiciness, with delicate fish meat that lacks any fishy taste, making it the most representative dish of Taitung. Additionally, the tomato meat sauce pasta has a homey flavor; the sauce is sweet and sour balanced, paired with elastic noodles, making it quite enjoyable to eat.

Although there aren't many options in the dessert section, the quality is good. The pound cake is moist and dense with a prominent milky flavor, while the brownie is rich with a slight bitterness and just the right amount of sweetness.

Overall, the buffet at Hualian Shore WARiYAN isn't about luxury but wins with simplicity, cleanliness, and local flavors. Whether it's the presentation of the dishes or the dining environment, it showcases the unique leisurely pace of Taitung, making it an ideal choice for a break and a meal after visiting the museum.
