The ordinary yet delicious offerings at Jingmei Night Market, a large bowl of oil rice is just right for two people who aren't very hungry to share. The oil rice served in a big bowl looks like a mountain ⛰️, high and round, and it's truly pleasing to the eye 😆. The rice grains are well-fried, each distinct, with a touch of mushrooms and shredded pork inside, making it fragrant and very tasty.
As for the texture, I would definitely give it full marks, but in terms of taste, I personally find it a bit bland since I prefer stronger flavors. It pairs nicely with the pepper and sweet chili sauce provided on the side, making it still quite enjoyable.
The environment is typical of a small food stall, with a clean table being the only requirement. If I come back to Jingmei Night Market next time, I would definitely revisit this place and maybe try some other side dishes or braised foods as well.
Outside the shop, there is a sign for Fresh Burger’s breakfast, and behind the menu sign there is also a breakfast menu since they share the space with a breakfast shop. The oil rice is only served in the afternoon, so don’t make a wasted trip. Also, the owner and the owner’s wife are providing oil rice for full moon celebrations for everyone as a reference.
