Nazizhi Grilled Fish is located on Heping Road in Hualien and is a restaurant that specializes in grilled fish. Considering that there are quite a few stalls selling grilled fish at Hualien's Dongdamen Night Market, it seems that the local people really love this dish. I came to eat at Nazizhi Grilled Fish this time because it had good online reviews, so I specifically came to try it out.
Their ordering method is a bit special; you can't order dishes individually; everything is sold as a set meal for two people at 800 NT dollars. The set includes grilled fish, side dishes, soup, and dessert, and the portions are quite large. Additionally, there is unlimited white rice and braised sauce available for self-service. We ordered the two-person set, and the two of us were very full, even a bit overstuffed. The grilled fish as the main dish was very tender, but I felt that the salt flavor could be a bit stronger to better bring out the fish's aroma; the sweetness of the fish also needs salt to enhance it, as it tasted a bit bland.
The other side dishes included seasonal vegetables, salty pork sausages, fried eggs, and some cold dishes; the flavors were fairly standard, but the portions were ample, suitable for those wanting to eat a lot. The final dessert was a highlight; their grilled mochi bread was unexpectedly delicious, with a crispy outer layer and a moist interior, combined with sweet mochi, which was a great way to finish the meal.
Overall, Nazizhi Grilled Fish can be considered a restaurant that focuses on value and satisfying portions, with flavors above average and an atmosphere suitable for gatherings with friends. If you're in Hualien and want to try grilled fish set meals, this place is worth considering; the prices are reasonable, the food is enjoyable, making it a choice worth trying.
