【Foodholic Niko @ Taipei】

In the past, whenever it was a family member or friend's birthday, we always chose cakes from Red Leaf. But since today was a last-minute decision to eat cake, we had to order from a bakery that I would pass by on the way home from work to try out other birthday cakes.

"Yoshin Bakery" is located on Park Road, near Taipei Main Station, just a 1-minute walk from exit M8. The storefront doesn’t look very eye-catching, and it's considered an old-school bakery (I found out it was established in 1990, so it has been around for over 30 years).

"Yoshin Bakery" not only sells birthday cakes but also various breads and pastries. If there are banquet or meeting needs, you can also order bento boxes and snacks for catering from them, making them quite diversified in operations.

What made me choose this bakery for the birthday cake was not only its convenient location but also the fact that they can make cakes up to 10 inches or even 12, 14, and 16 inches. Many fancy cake shops nowadays only make cakes up to 8 inches, and larger cakes either aren't made or require booking many days in advance. So being able to order a 10-inch cake on the same day is really great!

Yoshin Mocha Jazz Cake 10-inch $1200
The cake base is chocolate-flavored, with filling made up of peach kernel, egg pudding, and mocha cream. It is topped with macarons and strawberries, and it looks really nice!

P.S. I might be used to the plain-looking Red Leaf cakes, but today when buying this cake, my family said, "Wow! This one looks pretty nice!"

The cake base was quite moist, which is great because I really don’t like dry cakes. I also loved the pudding inside, combined with the walnuts on top, the overall flavor was delicious!

However, the whipped cream part was just average because Red Leaf’s whipped cream is really hard to beat.

If there’s a need for another birthday cake in the future, I would be willing to come back and buy from here again.

Kadorar Bakery 🥯 嘉多娜 天然酵母麵包店
BakeryKowloon
Hovering beyond restaurants deserving of Foodies’ recognition, let’s taste some of Kadorar (嘉多娜)’s nationally renowned signature breads that are worth the dough. A bite into these warm, chewy, crusty, substantial and fragrant edamame blueberries cheese tea breads instantly opens the floodgates to our childhood memories of sweet dreams. We definitely could make a meal out of these satisfactorily moist petite delicacies. It’s one of our best “Shut-up-and-take-my-money!” dining eXperience if you support bakery people who make astonishingly amazing breads, show love for democratic freedom towards liberal living as well as peaceful lifestyles. #香港人加油

Willa Jean
BakeryNew Orleans
Can't disagree with their self description: Adding a modern touch to traditional southern cuisine, Willa Jean elevates classic dishes with creative flair and innovative twists while staying true to the roots of the region's culinary heritage. Willa Jean is a cherished bakery in new orleans's heart, known for its comforting southern fare. The place is modern and bright with its glass walls covering half of the room. The biscuits are fantastic and a must have when being in NOLA. We had the fried chicken and tabasco honey biscuit and the bacon and egg and pimento cheese biscuit. Too bad we couldn't try more from the menu. The service was very good, friendly and attentive.

Aunty Ann @ NU Empire
BakerySubang Jaya
A typical Aunty Anne chain that is famous for its pretzels. Plenty of different kinds to choose from. They also sell other pastry sticks, sausage and cheese nuggets if pretzels arent your thing. There is also lemonade for drinks and dips awailable for extra charge. There are seasonal promotional items to try. Food is packed with easy to eat packaging; making it a good snack to eat while walking around. Pretzel tasted nice with soft texture and well seasoned. Lemonade (not in pic) is also quite decent, with a nice sour refreshing taste. Service was quick as expected and staff were friendly.
