In Munich, there is a restaurant where, if you don’t make a reservation in advance, you basically won't get a table, and it’s not easy to reserve either. Before I managed to book a table, I went through quite a bit of hassle, and it was only after waiting for someone to free up a spot at the bar that I finally got to eat there 🍽️.
At this restaurant, you can order either à la carte or a tasting menu, but unlike other places, when you choose the tasting menu, you can select from the same series for the main course, appetizers, and desserts! There’s no need to choose the same in each category. This means that if you want to select five desserts 🍮 today, they’ll allow that, and if you want to choose five appetizers, they’ll accommodate that as well! Since it was just the two of us dining, we eventually decided to go for a tasting menu with five dishes 🥘, plus one à la carte item!
Among the dishes we ordered today, I need to talk about the best and the worst ones—
❤️ Beef Tartare
I’ve tried many methods of preparation, but today I finally felt like I had the best one, which was also the most impressive to me. It tasted like it was harmonized with a kind of grape vinegar 🍇 that you usually dip bread in, giving it a salty, sweet, and slightly sour flavor! Plus, it was topped with berries that created a very harmonious taste with the sweetness of the beef and the tartness of the fruit; it was a delicious appetizer!
❤️ Cheese Dessert
This was a savory dish made with three types of cheese. Although it was on the dessert menu, the staff specifically mentioned that it would actually taste savory! The overall texture was very unique—you could enjoy the salty tart shell while tasting the different cheese decorations. The flavor was very rich, and anyone who loves cheese 🧀 would likely be very impressed!
The disappointment…
Seeing chicken hearts abroad, I was really curious about how they would be prepared! Unfortunately, I felt that the cost-to-value ratio was too low. A large plate costing nearly $20 only had about two chicken hearts on it. While the seasoning was decent, it was somewhat similar to flavors we have in Asia and lacked the originality it should have had, so I wouldn’t recommend it!
Overall, I think the restaurant is quite creative. If you want to experience some very foreign flavors, you should definitely try to make a reservation and pair it with a couple of different wines 🍷 for a truly enjoyable experience! And don’t forget to share with me what other dishes you ordered!
