Rui Yuan Ice City is an old-time ice shop established in 1984. In Xiaogang, I learned from the introduction that it was opened by a retired ice maker from the nearby Taiwan Sugar Corporation. The reviews online are very good.

Their signature products include yeast red bean ice, handmade ice cream, snow banana ice, and brown sugar mixed shaved ice. This time we ordered the yeast red bean ice, which is a specialty of theirs. We had four bowls of banana shaved ice and one bowl of milk shaved ice. One way to judge an ice shop is by how well they cook their red beans. This shop's red beans are very professional—sweet without being cloying, with a perfect texture ❤️.
