Braces Person’s Review: The bathroom sink is pretty big.
This restaurant, called Ba Wei Lamb Hotpot, is located on Huacheng Road in Xinzhuang and is about a 15-minute walk from the MRT station. Reservations cannot be made by phone. I had a good experience at the Taichung location before, so I invited friends to try it out.
We ordered the dine-in set for three at 1070 (which includes one lamb hotpot, Ba Wei meatballs, Ba Wei rolled tofu skin, premium lamb slices, blood cake, freshly grilled lamb short ribs, fresh tofu skin, cabbage, and Ba Wei beer) and additionally ordered more premium lamb slices, mushrooms, baby corn, radish, baby bok choy, water spinach, lamb noodle soup, and bamboo shoots.
This restaurant is from the same brand that operates Ba Wei Ginger Duck, so the broth is somewhat ginger and sesame oil-based, with the medicinal flavor not very pronounced. The soup base includes lamb ribs with skin and bone, served on the table with a gas stove and clay pot; the Taichung location uses charcoal instead. The lamb quantity is average, tender with a slight chew, but the water spinach seemed unwashed with the stems still intact and sandy. Other than that, everything else was decent. The staff occasionally came to refill the broth, which was nice.
Back to work on the third day of the Lunar New Year.
