窄門咖啡館

The café mentioned by the teacher is named after the narrow alleyway, approximately 38 cm wide, that you need to pass through when entering the shop. After hearing about it, I decided to check it out with friends over the weekend. XD

The location is marked on Google Maps and has a sign, so it's not hard to find!

You have to climb up the stairs to get to the shop on the second floor, which has two spacious areas. There are plenty of seats, and even on Saturday afternoon from 2 PM until around 6 PM, it was never fully occupied.

The decor follows a very retro style, giving it a Showa-era café vibe, while also incorporating some European elements. The overall mix feels quite complicated and a bit overwhelming XD.

What I had:

There are many types of fruit and a generous amount, making it one of the better fruit teas I've tried! I found it to be a bit on the sweeter side, but it was refreshing. I would recommend this drink, but it still seems quite expensive…

🌻 Apple Pie $140

It was still hot when it was served. Although the pastry wasn’t particularly layered or crispy, I think it’s because it was fresh out of the oven, so overall it was pretty good. However, it didn’t have any special highlights and was quite an ordinary apple pie (and also pretty small).

What my friend had:

🌻 Vienna Coffee $210

He said it was just regular coffee, nothing special about it.

🌻 Narrow Gate Sweetheart Pie $140

It’s like the pastry of the apple pie, but without any filling inside. My friend said it tasted average, but I felt it was not worth the price... it felt a bit half-hearted.

Overall, it feels like a place to simply make a pilgrimage to the narrow alley, but the actual food inside is not particularly special and is quite expensive… So it’s likely to be a place I would only visit once.
