This restaurant is quite popular in Paris as well, but mostly locals know about it. It seems there are rarely other Asians seen in the restaurant. I’m someone who loves to chase Michelin stars 💫, so when I saw this restaurant 🍴 received a Michelin star, I just had to try it!
When I entered the restaurant, I actually arrived early. They weren’t ready with our table yet, so they initially seated us at a nearby spot and later brought us to our table. The ordering method was a bit different; typically in the U.S., they would first come ask what you’d like to drink, but here they first asked which of three menus we wanted before inquiring about wine pairing 🍷. However, the service was impeccable, which made us feel very comfortable! Plus, it features an open kitchen where you can see the chefs seriously preparing the food!
Since I wasn’t very hungry, I chose the smaller portion menu.
First up was...
❤️ Bread 🥖
When you think it’s just regular bread, you finally experience eating warm bread in France. The most important part is their butter sauce, which has added fragrant lemon leaves. I couldn’t resist eating an extra piece of bread 🥯 simply because it smelled so good!
❤️ Beetroot
This appetizer surprised me a bit; before tasting, I thought it was hawthorn since I hadn’t seen the menu contents. Once I tasted it, I realized it was beetroot, but it had a sweet flavor blended with mustard, resulting in a sweet yet spicy flavor. It was topped with what seemed like plum sauce, which harmonized the whole taste—perfect as an appetizer!
❤️ Mashed Potatoes 🥔
The mashed potatoes had cheese and fish roe mixed in. I thought the fish roe would make them too fishy, but surprisingly, the flavors blended so well that they were delicious and sweet! Each bite was soft and mushy mashed potatoes paired with the chewy fish roe, creating a really unique taste!
❤️ Gnocchi
They shaped the small dough into tiny balls and baked them slowly. When they came out, the surface had a slight crispness; the inside was chewy and tender. They served four sauces, explaining each one while adding them. Personally, I thought it tasted similar to diluted BBQ sauce, but it also came with crispy bacon 🥓, giving it a salty and fragrant flavor—a nice start!
❤️ Veal Steak 🥩
Initially, the veal steak I received was somewhat disappointing because it had too much sinew that hadn’t been removed. My first cut made it hard to slice, and after discovering all the sinew, I managed to eat only about two or three bites of meat, with the rest being unedible! But later, it seemed the chef noticed my situation and brought out a plate of cut steak, apologizing to me. I was indeed pleased with their attentiveness. However, if it had been perfect from the beginning, that would have been best. After all, I feel the veal steak slightly deducted points because there was just too much sinew!
❤️ Dessert 🍮
The final dessert was very special; it featured sugar-cured pumpkin 🎃 and citrus fruits 🍊, presented with some sugar decoration. I must say, I absolutely loved this dessert, but perhaps it’s because I have a personal fondness for pumpkin. I enjoy this kind of dessert that’s not overly sweet and refreshes the palate!
Overall, aside from the veal steak incident, I was satisfied. If I have more time in the future, I would still be willing to return to experience the new menu—looking forward to more of their creativity!
