AI Spot Summary

🌟 An old-fashioned, purely delicious snack that is cheap and generous in portion.
🌟 If you care about the dining environment, please do not come here.

The secretly promoted Douliu Tofu Pudding on IG is indeed very discreet.

"Under the Banyan Tree Tofu" is located on a country road in Douliu. Just navigate to "Under the Banyan Tree Tofu," and you’ll arrive at a corrugated metal house (in front of the pigpen) along the rural path. The tofu pudding is hand-boiled over a wood fire, with large bowls priced at 25 TWD and small bowls at 20 TWD. The ingredients are very generous, served with large scoops, and I personally feel that the portions are quite large.

You can choose cold or hot tofu pudding, and the toppings include red beans, green beans, peanuts, barley, soybeans, and tapioca pearls. We ordered a large mixed bowl, meaning it includes all available ingredients, but you can opt to skip any you don’t like. It has that nostalgic vibe of a place where the owner seems to enjoy running their business—just like those affordable, generous portions from my childhood.

When we arrived, a lush green rice field was right next door, and there was a blue sign at the entrance. As you walk in, you’re welcomed to the pigpen. The dining area is a simple rain shelter made from waterproof cloth, and you look straight ahead to see the pot of boiling tofu pudding. The dining environment can be described as rudimentary, so if you care about ambiance, it’s not recommended to visit. While eating, a little water from the rain shelter splashed down on us because it had accumulated so much (we just laughed it off).

Let’s eat!
Large bowl 💰25
This paper bowl is the same size they use for selling noodle dishes outside—it's really huge! Even the small bowl seems big to me! 🤣🤣

After the tofu is placed at the bottom, we add green beans, red beans, peanuts, barley, soybeans, and tapioca pearls, then top it with crushed ice (which is in large chunks and doesn’t melt easily), and finally drizzle it with the boiled syrup. Overall, the flavor reminds me of childhood, a nostalgic tofu pudding experience—not upscale, but filled with childhood memories. I actually felt like I saved a meal by finishing it.

Thoughts: It’s really unbeatable in terms of price. I finished eating and felt like I saved a meal! The taste isn’t exceptionally delicious, but it’s the kind of flavor you remember from childhood. 🤣

If you care about the meal: Old-fashioned broken tofu pudding.

If you care about the environment: A pigpen with a simple rain shelter; not recommended if you're particular about your surroundings.

If parking is important: Motorcycles can park at the entrance, cars can park along the road.

If restrooms are important: None available.

If you care about waiting time: Very quick, no real wait.

If service is important: Quite friendly.

If you’re focusing on cost-performance ratio: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
