🌟 Finding a seat for dining in and ordering

“Four-Taste Cold Noodles and Juice” has been local for 50 years. The unique taste of white vinegar in Chiayi is a fantastic combination with mayonnaise and sesame, making it a must-try delicacy apart from Chiayi turkey rice. At first, I thought it was exaggerated, but later I truly found this flavor very delicious.

Four-Taste Juice was established in 1973, and the original shop is under the Jiaxiong Overpass as a small stall. Now, aside from being available in Chiayi, there are also branches in Kaohsiung where you can enjoy this great flavor! Super awesome.

The seating for Four-Taste Juice isn't large, with about 3-4 iron tables. As a rule of thumb, if you see an available seat, you should take it. There are many people, and sometimes merging tables is common; however, everyone eats quickly as it’s really too hot outside. Many locals prefer to take it to go.

I chose to eat at the original store because it’s easier to find parking 😂. There’s space next to the park under the overpass to park, while it’s really difficult in the city. Next door, there’s an old lady selling traditional ice, which is perfect for cooling off.

The menu for Four-Taste Juice is as follows: Small/Large Cold Noodles, Small/Medium/Large/One Bottle of Four-Taste Juice, and you can choose Century Egg Tofu.

Cold Noodles (Large) 💰50
The biggest difference between Chiayi cold noodles and those from other counties is the white vinegar, which is like the mayonnaise we often eat. When I first heard about it, I thought it was surely tasty, and after trying it, it became a favorite. The cold noodles at Four-Taste Juice are paired with a special soy sauce, sesame paste, white vinegar, and garlic, with the creaminess of mayonnaise and the richness of sesame combined with garlic, making it smooth and flavorful. It really whets the appetite, and the noodles are not mushy but elastic. Since the noodles themselves do not have strong flavor, they taste even better.

Four-Taste Juice (Large) 💰40
It’s called “Four-Taste” because it includes four types of fruit, primarily made from pineapple, papaya, guava, and lemon juice. The taste is very similar to the lemon flavor of the bagged ice cream we had as kids, with just the right sweetness, a bit fibrous but refreshing, making it very pleasant to drink. It has a texture of lemonade plus fruit fiber.

Century Egg Tofu 💰30
The familiar taste of century egg tofu, the dressing is a bit watery.

Thoughts: I sincerely believe that whether it’s the noodles or the sauce, Four-Taste Juice offers some of the best flavors I’ve had in Chiayi. Another notable place is Jinwen Chong Lu Noodles (which was closed that day).
