The egg pancakes provided by the Wenzhou Street radish cake expert are made with scallion pancakes and an egg, with the egg fried to a half-cooked state, allowing the yolk to ooze out and making it very appealing. Although the price is relatively high, there is a choice of spicy sauce for those with a strong flavor preference, and the dish has a good savory richness, though it can be a bit greasy.
The stall located near Shida Night Market often requires queuing, especially during the afternoon when it sells out quickly, and there are even more people on weekends.
The waiting time is not long, usually only needing to wait about 5 minutes, but there is no special description regarding the service.
【Foodholic Nako @ Taipei】
"The Wenzhou Street Radish Cake Expert" is located near Shida Night Market, about an 11-minute walk from the Taipower Building Station. It's one of my favorite junk food spots, and every time I pass by this area, I really want to detour and buy one to eat!
I usually crave it on weekend afternoons, and there's always a line. It's also easy to sell out during the afternoon!
This time, I arrived on Friday around 6 PM, and there weren't too many people in line, so I only waited about 5 minutes before successfully getting my order!
Egg Pancake $45
This name might confuse people; a more accurate name would probably be scallion pancake with egg. Selling for $45 a portion is really not cheap, but I have no resistance to these fried egg scallion pancakes. If you like strong flavors, I recommend adding their sauce (there's a spicy option as well). I forgot to add sauce today, and although it was still salty and fragrant, I felt like something was missing, and the flour flavor was more pronounced.
What I think is impressive about their egg pancake is that the fried egg is always slightly runny. When you bite into it, the egg yolk flows out—so satisfying!
A small downside is that it's a bit oily, so make sure to have some napkins handy; otherwise, you'll end up with greasy hands and mouth!
