🦑 Kaohsiung Qijin▫️ Old Street in front of Tianhou Temple
🦑 After comparing prices at three stalls, we chose the most affordable one.

Even if people say I look like a tourist,
Even if I’m not really hungry after just eating,
As a local in Kaohsiung, every time I come to Qijin,
I still must have grilled small squid, right?‼️

Today, I had a spontaneous idea and set out with my family from Houyi Home,
Riding a Ubike all the way to Zhan'er Warehouse to take a boat to Qijin🚴🏻‍♀️
Personally, I prefer taking the boat from Zhan'er Warehouse over the Gushan Ferry Station🚢
It’s not only newer and cleaner, but also has fewer people.
The boats often have different themes,
This time it’s Detective Conan, which is very interesting🎀🎩

Upon arriving in Qijin, it was still early around 14:00,
So there weren't many people on Old Street,
Allowing us to leisurely stroll and compare prices.
I didn’t expect to find the price hikes to be shocking;
Almost every stall offers large squid for around 120-130🥹

At this moment, we heard a vendor calling out,
“Big ones for 100 each, two for 180.”
This completely caught our attention.
Walking closer, we indeed found the squid to be fresh and large,
So we decided that was the one✌🏻

The three of us ordered two,
And while waiting, we bought a skewer of squid balls to satisfy our cravings.
The owner uses napkins to absorb the oil after frying,
Which was surprisingly attentive.
Freshly fried, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, though a bit hot, it was very tasty🔥

In the end, we got two large bags of squid,
Since we weren’t very hungry, we couldn’t finish it by 17:00 when we had to leave.
Overall, the quantity and flavor were quite good,
The downside is that they had a lot of sauce and weren't grilled very dry,
So we had to be extra careful to avoid drips.
Otherwise, like me, you might ruin your light-colored pants🫠
