Braces Person's Review: Independent Restroom is Acceptable
This time I went to hike Lala Mountain and after the hike, I was really hungry. So I looked for an all-you-can-eat hot pot to eat. I happened to see that this place was a newly opened all-you-can-eat hot pot. Little did I know it was the beginning of a nightmare...
We went for lunch and directly ordered the highest price option at 988 + 10%. We ordered by scanning a QR code. The staff said that this price included A5 Wagyu beef, beef tongue, and blue diamond shrimp. For the soup base, we ordered a nourishing herbal soup and a white tonkotsu broth. The white broth tasted like instant ramen from a popular brand, quite salty.
When my friend and I saw the Japanese A5 Wagyu and Australian M9 Wagyu, we were stunned. Is this really Wagyu? It looks quite different from what we usually see. The texture definitely doesn’t feel like Wagyu; it’s tough and chewy, clearly cooked for just a moment—I wondered if they were trying to trick people in Daxi into thinking they didn’t understand Wagyu... or am I just lacking experience and it actually is Wagyu?
The Angus beef was half fat; I've never seen marbling exceeding half. I really didn’t dare to put it in the pot and had to remove the fat first. The angel red shrimp was also on the smaller side, but the meat quality was decent. The big scallops were very fake. The clams, oysters, and small squid were reasonably fresh and helped to save the experience.
The pork was tastier than the Wagyu.
Even though the price was only $988, I shouldn’t have had too high expectations. They promoted Japanese A5 Wagyu and Australian M9 Wagyu, but at another place for just 898, the marbling was much more beautiful. The more I ate, the angrier I got.
