Dessert shop | ¥550~¥550

AI Spot Summary

Afternoon Tea2 ppl$550

This is a small shop with an unassuming appearance and a Japanese-style interior. Its signature dish is the roasted mochi and red bean soup with the same name as the shop's name.

Located near Kawabata Shopping Street in Nakashu, Fukuoka, nearby attractions include Hakata Canal City and Kushida Shrine. We saw someone recommending this dessert shop on the Internet. It happened to be quite cold, so we decided to have a bowl of hot sweet soup.

The store is small, but it can seat up to 20 people. We arrived around 3:30 pm on Tuesday, and there were no customers at all. It was so fun to have the entire space to ourselves~

As soon as we entered the store, the owner served us hot tea. Each of us ordered at least one item. We ordered a bowl of the signature roasted mochi red bean soup (ゼんざい) and red bean soup dumplings (しろこ), both of which were hot.
ps. There are also ice desserts sold here!

Roasted Mochi Red Bean Soup (ゼんざい)¥550
When the boss was making it, the aroma of roasted mochi could be smelled throughout the store. There were 3 pieces in total, and they were all quite large, but they were delicious, so after finishing them, they still felt like they were not enough~
The red bean soup is full of red beans, which are plump and big. However, I personally think the red bean soup is quite sweet. I need to drink hot tea and the pickled kelp on the side to relieve the sweetness from time to time.
(BTW hot tea is delicious; kombu is very special. I never thought that desserts like red bean soup would be eaten with kombu)

Red bean glutinous rice balls (しろこ) ¥550
There are about ten glutinous rice balls, but they seem to have a frozen taste(?) and the texture is soft, so I don’t like it that much.
The base red bean soup is very dense, similar to less thick red bean paste. The sweetness is a little lower than the roasted mochi red bean soup, which is just right and delicious!

Overall, as for the base, I prefer pure red bean puree, but in terms of ingredients, grilled mochi beats glutinous rice balls. If you can pair grilled mochi with red bean puree, it would be perfect!

Although the unit price of the meals is not cheap, the taste is pretty good. If you are shopping around Nakashu Kawabata and you like desserts, I recommend you to come here to have a bowl of the signature roasted mochi red bean soup and experience the traditional Japanese shop. atmosphere
