Carefully selected ingredients create high-quality fried pork cutlet, and the curry is also great.
I saw someone on Facebook recommend this pork cutlet place in Ikebukuro that I had to try, and since I happened to be here for work, I decided to check it out.
During lunchtime, the first floor is always packed, and it seems like a lot of nearby office workers are dining alone. The bar seating is quite comfortable, and the second floor has larger tables for groups.
I later found out that this is a chain, but each location has pretty good reviews on the map. Their pork doesn’t have a gamey taste, and the fried coating is crispy without being greasy. Although it's not the ultra-thick cut, I actually think the thickness is just right—not too chewy.
The lunch prices are very reasonable, and almost everyone orders the pork cutlet set meal. I was attracted by the curry rice titled "Pork Cutlet Shop's Pork Cutlet Curry." If it’s not a set meal, the shredded cabbage is served separately, and I didn’t ask if I could get a refill. There was also no miso soup.
Their curry has a very traditional Japanese curry flavor—slightly spicy and on the milder side. The sauce is thick and somewhat salty, and by the end, there was a bit of sauce left that I couldn't finish, so the next time I come back, I probably won’t order the curry again.
