I have heard about Shang Yu Lin for a long time, and the fresh milk tea seems to be quite famous. However, I never made a special effort to buy it. Today, I happened to walk by while thinking about getting a drink, so I decided to buy a cup of the "Ding Ji Fresh Milk Tea" with pearls!
When I saw the name "Ding Ji Fresh Milk Tea" on the menu, I instinctively thought it should refer to the signature milk tea, so I ordered it. I initially intended to ask for it with one part sugar, but the attentive staff reminded me that the original fresh milk tea already includes honey. When they asked if I wanted to add sugar, I decided to go with no sugar, and found that the sweetness was just right. I'm glad I didn't add any extra sugar.
Personally, I think the honey is a big plus. Its sweetness is very refreshing and not cloying. However, aside from that, the fresh milk tea itself seems rather average. The flavors of the milk and tea are not particularly pronounced. It’s good to drink, but I wouldn’t linger for it.
The pearls are standard, with a moderate firmness, so they are satisfactory.
Overall, the pearl milk tea is priced at $70, which feels a bit pricey. If I were nearby, I might consider it, but I wouldn’t make a special trip just to buy it.
