Marugame Seimen is a udon specialty store. It is a popular choice when I am at a food court and don’t know what to eat. The branch I visited today is located in the underground shopping mall of Area K of Taipei Station. It only opened in December last year.
Although Marugame’s main specialty is udon noodles, I actually love its fried food more than its udon noodles. The fried food is the essence of Marugame~~~
Today I discovered that Marugame also sells oden, but each item costs NT$32, which is actually quite expensive.
We both ordered a medium bowl and a large bowl of udon, and three fried items to eat together~
Soup udon (medium bowl) $74, (large bowl) $104
There is nothing else besides soup and noodles, but Marugame’s soup tastes really good, the taste is just right and not too salty, and paired with the super chewy and chewy udon noodles, it’s a simple but satisfying bowl noodle soup
If you feel it is too thin, you can also sprinkle with chopped green onion to add more flavor~
I never seem to order other udon noodles. Every time I order this basic bowl of soup udon noodles, add a few fried items, and it’s a hearty meal!
Next comes the explosive army~
Fried water lily vegetables $40, fried chicken $38, fried white fish $38
These three are my favorites. Among them, I like fried vegetables the most, which contains water lilies, onions and some carrots. Mainly because I really love fried onions, but this fried thing is really oily. I Take a sip of clear soup and wipe your mouth after every bite of fried vegetables
Fried chicken and fried white fish can just supplement the protein of this meal. They don’t taste as oily as fried vegetables. They are also highly recommended~
Overall, if you want to be full and not bored at Marugame, you must order at least 2 fried foods. It costs almost $200, which is not particularly cheap, but I just want to taste Marugame’s fried foods once in a while. ah!
