🟡 Kaohsiung Sanmin ▫️ Surrounding the Houyi shopping district
🟡 A must-buy crispy fried QQ snack at the night market
There was an urban legend in the past
about the sweet potato balls in the north and QQ eggs in the south.
However, I’ve lived in Kaohsiung my whole life
and I've always heard it referred to as sweet potato balls more often.
But no matter what it's called, the most important thing is that it’s delicious! 🍠
This shop, “You Have to Wait for Sweet Potato Balls,”
has its main store at Sanmin Market.
I had bought it there before and had a pretty good impression of its taste.
I didn’t expect it to open a branch near my home! ❗️
Although the business hours on 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗴𝗹𝗲 say it’s open until 𝟮𝟮:𝟬𝟬,
I often see the owner closing up shop early in the morning.
I wonder how they decide when to close. 😂
After not getting any the previous day,
I made sure to go earlier the next day and got some!
🉑 Choices ➕ Chocolate, pepper salt, plum powder
I opted for the safer choice of plum, lacking experimental spirit.
The small bag was quite generous, and each ball was bigger than usual.
They were tart and sweet, crunchy and very satisfying to eat one after another. 🫶🏻
The golden crispy balls have a magical ability to lift one's spirits.
It seems there are currently three branches in Kaohsiung.
If you pass by, you can buy some to try out! ✨
