☕️ From a coffee chain in California, USA! Thoughtful service and high-quality coffee, buy beans and get a free cup!
VERVE, founded in 2007, is a coffee chain brand that does not have the support of large corporations. Since opening several branches in Japan starting in 2016, VERVE also established a roasting base in Kitakamakura, Japan in 2020.
The Roppongi branch is an independent building, with a view of Tokyo Tower from the road outside. The interior has a light wooden tone overall, with large glass windows providing bright natural light, making it very comfortable for dining in.
It's rare to find a specialty coffee shop in Japan that opens at 7 AM, but VERVE locations generally open very early, likely due to the coffee shop breakfast culture found in Europe and America.
On this day, I ordered the more expensive washed Ethiopian hand-dripped coffee, which had a great balance of acidity and aroma. I've become a regular here, and their classic offerings are also quite good.
A major feature is that the bar counter has many types of coffee available for free tasting, and you can order what you like.
This time, I specially ordered the panini sandwich. I hadn't ordered it before due to the higher price, but I found it quite greasy and very salty overall. Although the outer bread was toasted nicely and crispy, I don't recommend it 🫠 Fortunately, I only ordered half (660 yen).
However, because I really like the coffee and service, I still give it four stars!
